Can't play wc3 frozen throne on win 8.1

says I need a cd key. maybe they don't want me playing it on newer versions of windows? Was able to get it going on win 8. pushing me to get sc2?

I have sc2 which I regret getting because I'm not nearly as good in it as wc3, but I'm regretting it a lot less now that I can't play it on my newly installed windows 8.1

Did you backup up the program folder and simply drop it back on the hard drive after the new Windows install or did you go through a proper full installation?

I seem to recall having issues with WC3 on Windows 7.

Oh well.

Only 12 or 13 years left and you can play Warcraft 4.

but i deleted it off my sd card and reinstalled it on main c and still have this problem. Should i revert back to 8? is 8.1 worthy?

You have to reinstall the game from the original installer.
