Can't play online games with new cable modem.

Anyone else encountered this problem? I just had a cable modem set up, and have no problems browsing in Internet Explorer. Yet whenever I try to log on to an online game (Diablo II, Need For Speed: Porsche Unleashed, No One Lives Forever) I can't even get my system to find a game server. It won't log on at all. Does this sound like a network setting problem? Please help!

Call the ISP and ask them if you have all the ports open. They should be able to help you.

i had a similar problem with my DSL. Whenever i would try to connect to a game server to play online(no matter what game), my connection would just die and the reconnect window would pop up. i tried calling bellsouth, but those fools dont know sh1t. i finally figured out it had to be my computer. It seems it just couldnt handle staying online and loading up the game while joining the server. I just built a new computer and now everything works fine. The old computer was a amd k6-2 300mhz with 128mb ram....
