Cant play games

So, i've got a new win8 experience today, woohaaa.
Cant play games.
I keep getting switched back to the desktop when I try to launch anything (steam) .. bioshock infinite will work if I keep swapping back to it (getting past the intro), and then im fine.

Ever heard of anything like that?

Dont put too much into it, I havent got the forensic tools out yet, I am just super annoyed that I have to...

Was this computer built ..or .... bought.......?
Tell us what you put in it or what model it is.

Then, is it giving you any type of error when it crashes?

Thanks

Homebuild. haswell non-K 4770, win8.1, gtx 780, 32GB Ram, 1 TB samsung EVO.
Didnt do it 14 days ago.
What installed since then? Windows update.
Thats it.

It is like something is "alt-tab"'ing and bringing the desktop to front.

eidt : I know it sounds like malware.. yet comodo antivirus comes out clean.
I'd start shutting down running processes but with win8 there is so friggin many of them, dont know what half of them does.. (not a big fan of win8..)

System restore back before update, find bad update, don't let install. Without specifics on which update was applied, that's the best advice I can possibly give.

Or try manually updating your video card driver.

It definitely does not sound like malware. Unless you count Microsoft updates as malware 🙂

^^^ that is funny...
Also if the excellent suggestions above do not help, try creating a new user account and using it for testing.

Thanks guys, thought i'd necro this with an update.. fixed it somewhat/somehow.
I api'spyed what was going on, and sure enough "something" was tasking gdi bitblt a whole lot through the troublesome session, but oddly enough easily found running and terminateable (nv and comodo stuff)... and stuff ran fine from then.. A reboot would reintroduce the issue though.. But after a windows update today.. the issue is gone 🙂
