I've never had a problem playing avi files before. I've also only used FFDshow as my codec pack and it's supposed to be the best one. Well, ever since I uninstalled ViPlay 2.09 (it's a small video player I've used for years) I can't play .avi files anymore. I can play .mpg files and .mov files, etc, but no avi files unless I use VideoLan Client. So basically I can't play files using Windows Media Player 10, ViPlay after I reinstalled it, or anything else.
I ran GSpot on several of the files and I got the following error message:
"The Following Codecs should both capable of processing this format:
--> XviD MPEG-4 Codec
--> XviD MPEG-4 Video Decoder
Nonetheless, DirectShow is apparently NOT able to play this file. (see "DirectShow Render" below). No further information is available concerning the apparent discrepancy."
This is just one file, but it's so weird because I was just watching this file yesterday (not to mention, you know, all my avi files).
If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate it.
