Can't play any game...

PC Freak

I have loaded several games. New and old.
I cannot play any of them.
StarCraft, N4S Underground, MoH.. and some others.
Some hang the computer soon as they start to load and others I can end the process and get windows back.

I have the latest DX, Video, Sound, VIA drivers

I have a G4 4200 ti video card, Audigy MP3 sound card, WinXP Home
This all started about 2 mo ago. Since then I have formated and reloaded windows.. for a different reason. But the games are all doing the samething.

Any ideas???? Thanks

start-run-"msconfig"- startup tab. are there any unwanted/dodgy looking background programs running?

RAM went bad?

yeah, if it´s a hardware problem, then it´s probobly the RAM.

Could be his video card. Bad RAM would cause instability with any memory-intensive application, not just games.

It could be hardware.
Just strange that I have 0 problems everywhere else. Just in this one area.

Is there a site that test DirectX or 3d?

I would reinstall Direct X just for grins, but I'm betting its RAM like suggested earlier. Do this, remove on of the sticks and boot back into windows. Loads up the games and see if the same thing happens. If it does, swap sticks.

Report back to us with the results....
