Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P Rev 2 (Bios 12b)
Intel Pentium Dual-Core E2160
Super Talent T8UB2GC5 2x2G
Enhance ENS-0560G-G 600W

Status:
When no overclocking everything works fine.

Any attempt to overclock the system reboots between Mem Test and Displaying that Mem is in Dual Mode.

Overclocks to 3GHz at default everything with only one of the Mem sticks installed (either one).

Help.....

OK, made one more stab at this but no success. I Reset the CMOS and put both sticks back in and it boots and runs fine with everything at default. (Running that way now.) Then I tried overclocking and now I don't even get it to post at all. Changed all the setting that have worked for everyone else but no help. I'm tempted to try an older BIOS, really what do I have to lose. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

what are your settings your trying to overclock??
You may need to bump up the voltages..
Post back with your settings your trying to get and I will try to help.

With only one stick of RAM I'm solid with everything default except changing FSB to 333, PCI-E to 100 and the multiplier to 2.4 so that the RAM is at 800.

When I go to two sticks I've tried everything. I tried raising only the Vcore all the way up to 1.5, I've tried several combinations of voltages for the DDR and MCH. I've manually set the Timings to 5,5,5,18. I've tried running the RAM at 667. I've tried several FSB settings as well.

At on point I left everything at default and only Enabled manual setting the FSB without actually changing the FSB from the default 200 and still the same problem. System boots, passes the Mem test but reboots before it states the Mem is in Dual mode.

No I haven't tried other RAM. I don't have any and if I need to buy more I doubt I keep this setup.

I have tried all 4 sticks one at a time and they work fine and pass every test I've ran. (All 4 are identical 2gig sticks.) As a side note I can run all 4 at the same time if I don't overclock.

What voltage are you running the RAM and the NB at? Try 1:1 at 333 FSB so you're not clocking it as high ans see if that works.

That is how I set it up for each of my initial attempts. On the Gigabyte MB you select a multiplier for the RAM frequency so when I select 333 for the FSB and a 2.4 multiplier that runs the RAM at 800 which is it's rated speed.

As for voltages, I start at stock which the MB defaults to 1.856 for the RAM and I'm not sure what the default is for the NorthBridge because the BIOS simply lets you add to the default which is never stated. I ran all the way up to 2.2 on the RAM and I've added up to .2 to the NB.

Motherboard was sensing what it felt was too much of a voltage variation during post while it was detecting installed components. I read several posts from all over the world from people with similar problems to mine but everyone seemed to either find no fix or they all found a different one. I had already determined that booting with only stick of RAM worked perfectly and overclocked great. After reading a post from Australia about someone who fixed their problem by unplugging USB devices and another in Russia I think about fixing it by removing a Blu-Ray drive I decided to start experimenting. I went through my system and removed different pieces of hardware in varying combinations and then tried my overclocking. My final determination was that it was not a single piece of hardware but just the amount. I could overclock perfectly in various configs but just not with everything. Now I know this sounds like a Power Supply problem and it may be but not in the pure sense. If I setup my overclock with my USB hub and printer unplugged I can get rock solid @3Ghz: CPU @1.31v, RAM @1.95v, and MCH @+.15v for 24 hours running Prime95. I then plug back in the USB devices and Prime95 is still good for as long as I let it run. So I guess the MB is sensing what I guess would be called "system droop" and not liking it and that's what is causing it to reboot and set the settings back to default. The oddest thing is it must also be sensing the same thing when settings are at default but just ignores it because just setting "CPU HOST CLOCK CONTROL" from "Disabled" to "Enabled" and leaving the "CPU HOST FREQUENCY (Mhz)" unchanged at 200 causes it to reboot and change the setting back to "Disabled".
