HI, I have an Abit BP6 running an 500mhz 370 pin celeron and I have never been able to overclock it because in there is no cpu soft menu choice in the bios.

It's just missing.

I would like to know if this processor is locked or something or is this a motherboard problem. I'd apreciate any help at all.

When you get into the BIOS it should be in the top right corner of the options...I have a BP6 and I've never had that kinda situation....

I looked In the manual and its there in the pics but I have never seen it in my own bios.
Could this be because of the Processor?I had other abit boards and never had this problem
I even upgraded the bios and nothing.

The 500 is probably the worst of all the celerons to overclock, very few of them ever did... of the older celerons, the best buy was the 366's, most of them would run at 100mhz, (550), and they were a bunch cheaper than the 500's back then...

since the multiplier on your chip is 7.5, your next highest FSB overclock will be at 75mhz x 7.5= 562

I will guess that this CPU can't run at 562, but try it at 2.3 volts with a GOOD HSF and thermal paste

the best celeron overclocker now is the 566@850, but it is a coppermine, and I'm not sure your M/B can run coppermines, thought I saw a socket 370 to coppermine converter though once upon a time...

good luck

Just reread your post, yes, your CPU is locked, the multiplier is 7.5 and you can't change that.. all you can do is change the FrontSideBus and CPU voltage...

the factory setting for celeron FSB is 66, 66 X 7.5 = 500..
raise FSB up to next highest setting, 75(I think), 75 X 7.5 = 562

with most celeron's, when you up the FSB, you need to up the cpu voltage to make it work..

don't go any higher than 2.3, and if it works, back it down to 2.2 or 2.1 to keep the chip cooler, but it may not run overclocked at lower voltages or not at all, even at 2.3...

500's were pretty much maxed out...if your M/B could change the FSB in smaller increments then you would probably get some more out of it.. but going up to 75 may be too big of a jump for this CPU

my friends 466 did O/C at 75(x7), so his is running at 525, but it wouldn't go to the next step up of 83 FSB

I'd like to thank you guys for all the tips but the main problem is the bios doesn't show
cpu soft menu is missing. I f anyone could tell me why I'd really appreciate it
