Can't log into router w/out default gateway IP address.

More details needed. What type of router? Are you not getting an IP adress? Is the router doing DHCP?? Has it ever worked?

Its a belkin 802.11b router. Model # F5d6231-4. My co-worker tried to set it as a wireless access point. It had an option to set it as that. I'm getting an IP address 169.254.99.83.

Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
Autoconfiguration IP Address. . . : 169.254.99.83
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Don't forget to disable any firewalls. You can try to hardcode the ip/subnet/gateway info if you have it. Otherwise i'd at least try another computer to see if you are getting a "windows" ip assigned on that machine as well. That reset should have knocked it to factory settings. Good luck

That's what I was going to suggest... Try putting the ip/subnet/DG into windows and that should get it. I had a netgear that I was trying to do this same thing with and never had much luck, so it ended up being a subnet of the main network, which really sucked, but it was the best that old sucker would do.

That's an autoconfiguration address, you sure you are actually even connected to the router? Are you attempting to connect to it via wireless or wired? That range of IP addresses is handed out when Windows can't obtain one from a DHCP server. Unless yours was set to that range manually for some reason.

If you are trying wireless, I would plug a cable into that bad boy and see what happens then.

I second this suggestion. And as others have said, the 169.254.x.x address is indicating that your not connecting to the router.
