Can't log-in.

I tried emailing the mods a few days ago, but I am pretty sure they hate me.. so, I don't think they will help. I am trying to login to my account, and I get the following error:

Login denied, you are not authorized to use the forums..
Error Code: 189

But if I use my computer which I already logged in with, it works fine.. obviously, I am posting here! Whats the deal?
 
(1) The Mods do hate you and permabanned you.
(2) They are slogging through the mail from one month ago. Be patient.
 
Is it just the one computer you can't log in from, or do you have this issue with any computer? IIRC, you can't log in to or post on the forums from an AOL owmed IP address. Try another computer and see what happens.

No, they do hate me.. believe me.. they do.. but I shouldn't be permabanned.. not yet anyway.
 
The mods responded saying that I am not banned.. try clearing cookies/cache etc.. Did that, no change.. Anyone got a more detailed explanation as to what this error code is? Paranoid to log off of this PC for fear of losing access. Will try on my laptop at home when I get home from work.
 
Can you provide us more information about this problem? How many different computers have you tried this on? How many different networks have you tried this on? Are the two computers you are using (the one logged in and the one getting the error) on the same network?

More details plaese? 🙂

Without more information my best guess is that one computer is using a banned AOL IP address and the other isn't.

I had this same exact thing happen to me a couple weeks ago.

What happened was I was visiting my parents for the weekend and tried to use my laptop with their Sprint DSL service. I usually surf with Firefox, but I got that error when logged in and trying to reply. I logged out, and the forums wouldn't let me log in again.

I was cookied with IE, but I still couldn't reply to threads. I could send PM's just fine though.

I PM'ed the mods and sent them my IP address. It wasn't banned, so I had no idea what was wrong.

Got back to my place, and everything worked fine. Last time I was home visiting my parents, I could post/reply without a problem.

Sorry I don't have a solution for you - but hopefully it'll fix itself for you

The Sprint DSL thing has been mentioned as a problem before. I have it, too. Sometimes I will be logged in and can PM but can't post and logging out means I can't log back in. Nothing fixes it except time. The last time it lasted almost three weeks. If I access the forums via dial-up during that period, I can log in and post. I don't know a solution.

Is earthlink domain being blocked?
Error code 189 when tryin to login from home

 
I am not running AOL, I am running Time Warner Road Runner.. I cleared the cache, checked security settings, etc. Its happening on both my Windows XP machines at home. My work computer on a different connection works.. so I am not sure if its something on the settings on the machine at home, or some other type of error. I wish one of the Admins would be able to look up error 189 and tell me what it is.
 
I don't think the AOL IP ban has anything to do with running AOL. The only requirement is that you IP belongs to the AOL owned IP range. So you can't use the Netscape ISP to access the forums because AOL owns Netscape. Doesn't Time Warner own AOL? That could be your problem.

Although I thought a lot of people here used Road Runner, so it would be odd if that was actually the case.
 
Still can't login.. 2 different computers at home.. works fine at work with 2 different computers.. mods not responding to emails or PM's.. no admins looking at this thread in a week.. Sigh.. guess I'll just keep bumping this thread for the hell of it. I guess its a form of banning, just accidentally ban his IP and then not respond.
