Can't Load most sites in IE or Firefox

Hi,

My computer has started acting up and now I can only access certain pages. All of the pages on my university's own network are accessible, but a lot of outside ones aren't. Fortunately, I can still access this forum for some reason. Basically Firefox keeps saying that "document contains no data." IE simply can't find the page. On their status bar, they both say that they are waiting for the website to respond. This happens with most of the major search engines, hotmail and most sites outside of my university network. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You.

run ccleaner, adaware and spybot and see if the behaviour persists. perhaps your security settings in IE are blocking certain sites. are u using a firewall?

Maybe your university shut you out of them. There are internet filters that many schools use.
