can't install windows98

hi
i've just bought a computer. i assemble the computer by myself. but i got some problems. i can't install windows98 to my computer. during installation it will appear messages such as user.exe error, suwin error, windows protection error and windows safety failure. sometimes, my computer will restart by itself during windows installation. 1stly i suspect my cpu are not working but after i tested it on my friend computer, it worked. then i borrowed my friend cpu(amd k7 athlon 550 mhz) and put it on my motherboard. after that, i can install the windows98 properly, play games and etc. then i switched back to my cpu. my windows crashed.so i need your help. could you figure out what was really goes wrong on my computer. i have checked that all my hardware are in good condition.

cpu= amdk7 athlon700
motherboard=MSIk7Pro
display card=riva tnt2 ultra
sound card=creative vibra 128 pci
ram=64 sdram(pc100)
cd rom
hard disk quantum fireball lct
power suplly=250 watt max

have you tried another win98 cd? it might be a bad disk.
