i got the frys deal (ecs + 2000mhz = 99$). ive been trying to install winXP. when its at the stage of copying the files from cdrom to the hard drive in windows setup, it is unable to copy some files. It is as though it is having trouble reading from the cd. However, the cd works, ive used it on other systems recently, and the cdrom is good too, ive tried several cd roms. Im pretty sure its the motherboard... is there something in the bios or jumpers that i might want to check before i send this motherboard back in?

1) Make sure the CD is clean.
2) Make sure the CDROM is clean.
3) Try a different IDE cable.
3a) Try a different IDE channel.
4) Try reading a different CD from a DOS boot disk.

OMG I can't believe the number of ppl that spout this BS just because they had/have problems with this board. Try reading some of the threads asking if ppl like this board or if ppl would recommend this board 90% of the ppl out there love it, 10% hate it because they got bad ones or have issues between the chair and keyboard.

Yep, apparently that chair/keyboard problem is 20 times more common for people that buy S5A than any other group of individuals. At least according to problem post counts.

I know, I love this board, Great price with all the stuff it has and has the capability to do more if you know what to do. And as for the problem. I had a similiar problem and it turned out to be a partition table problem on my HDD. Even though I could see the drive in DOS and was able to read and copy files to the drive but when the XP install tried to, it gave me some weird error. All I did was in the winxp install when it asks if you want to convert it to NTFS, instead of just leaving the drive as it is, I told it to repartition and format the drive in FAT32 (haven't convinced myself to switch to NTFS yet). And it worked fine after that.
