I have a problem installing Windows XP Pro with my ATI Radeon 64 DDR card. Although the
instalation process ends correctly and the system is ready for the final restart after the
boot the screen flickers and I get on my CRT only vertical black-blue lines. I tried the install
2 times, 2 times clean install on a fresh formated hard drive and 2 times the same
result. It seems that the drivers for my Radeon are in the Win XP Pro the main cause of
the problem. Now I am running Windows 2000 Pro and no problem with my graphics at all,
also in Win 98 and ME no problems at all.

Any ideas how to get it work?

My system:

Intel Celeron 800 MHz
512 MB SDRAM
GigaByte 6OXET-C i815EP
ATI Radeon 64 DDR

xpeter-

I have had similar (but not exactly the same) problems installing my Radeon 7500 64MB All-In-Wonder on a new computer I am building. I had to reinstall WinXP three times.

What worked in the end was: In bios I set the AGP mode at 1X before the clean install. I also set all bios options to enhance video performance to DISABLE. Things like "Enable Fast Write, Enable Fast Read (Sometimes "AGP Turbo" mode?). Same thing with the Shadowing of the BIOS and VIDEO BIOS (Disable them).

Finally got it to work well last night. Put AGP mode at 4X and still OK. Now I suspect I will have to one-by-one turn back on the other options to see what works best.

Good luck - I know this can be VERY frustrating.

PS - Try the email support on ATI - I did and they sent me back some really good tips within a couple of hours.

It is winxp that has screwed up drivers.

Your installation of WINXP worked fine. You just have to boot into safe mode and then change the drivers from their.

You know the drill right? Press F8 before startup initialization.
