My problem is when i try to install WIN 98 I have an error message after the first restart of the installation :

Unble to load the VPICD driver-fatal windows protection error-you have to
restart your computer

I try to reinstall it, to change the partition table to format the Hard drive, but impossible to install Win 98

Do you know where could come from this error, Bios setting to change, hardware problem, hardware conflict conflict, Win 98 version too old for the hardware

How are you booting your computer (boot disk or Boot from CD ROM)?

Have you tried installing the OS with just the bare minimum hardware in your machine (just the video card)? Then once (hopefully) it is installed and working one by one install the other hardware.

I kno how frustrating that error is I have gotten it more than once myself.....😀

I had the same error, and after 2 weeks of troubleshooting, I found out that it was my stupid video card.
change your video card and try again.
hope it helps.
