Bought the MDR-7502's online in US for 100 bucks about two months ago. The left channel fried two weeks later and i haven't had the chance to do anything about it since. If i want the online store to replace, they will charge me 15% restocking fee, shipping there and back, plus taxes at customs. That's another 100 bucks, so i'll pass. Called SONY Canada and they told me to drive to their main office (middle of nowhere) and have them repaired. They said that because i didn't purchase them at the SONY store, i will probably have to pay for repairs. I told them that i just bought them and that the warranty card says nothing about the SONY store and they said that MAYBE the technician won't charge me because they are so new. What the hell is that all about?! Can't i just send these in and get new ones in return? I don't want them repaired, not even for free. Headphones are a delicate thing, like a piece of clothing, i don't want anyone else handling or wearing them. Does anyone have any suggestions?

<< No idea. Was listening and then the left side just died. >>

you mean really loud? If thats the case, you probably exceeded the maximum allowed input power.

look from sony's point of view, your equipment may have been faulty. etc. you could have broke them yourself etc. they arent just gonna give a new set to you, repairing is the best you are gonna get. maybe refurbished if you are lucky

i've had similar problems with sony canada's tech support... as stated in a previous post sony=satan... good luck getting anything from them... you'll be damned lucky if the tech lets you off without charging you for service... what with like 40+ dollar an hour service rates (rounder up to the nearest whole hour) and bits of wire that cost $15-$20... if you can take them apart yourself and see if anything is physically loose... then try and fix it... or else... if worse comes to worse... go the sony store... buy a brand new pair... take em out.. put yours in the box and return em for your money back... it's unethical... but sony is a heartless evil corporation... so don't feel too bad...

That's why I don't buy Sony. (They have the highest defect rate of any electronic manufacturer) From what I can see there isn't anything you can do but have them fixed
