Says a process is already open but I dont even have a profile or anything setup. I havent used the program in ages! I see people have the problem but I cant find the solution. I have win 7

Is there a process open? If so kill it in Task Manager, and see if it opens then. You could also try uninstalling it, remove any trace of the program, then reinstall it and see if it behaves.

Done that and it still wont go! I dont get it. I dont see any process open that is labeled thunderbird or even looks mozilla related other than firefox.

Did you try the uninstall/reinstall routine? Don't forget to delete the directories under your user name. If you do delete them, you'll lose any old mail, so back them up if that's important to you.

I cant seem to find any of the other directories other than the main one. Where do profiles go in WIn 7?

I don't remember exactly for Win7, but I think it's the same as Vista. Here are the paths for Vista, and you'll have to enable showing hidden files to see some of them...

C:\Users\YOUR_NAME_HERE\AppData\Local\Thunderbird

C:\Users\YOUR_NAME_HERE\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird

AppData is the hidden directory. Remember, if you delete these directories, you'll lose any old mail, and old account settings.
