It won't get 3/4 of the way down, it won't even get 1/4 of the way. I have pushed on the lever to the point where I think it's going to break, it won't get anywhere near the plastic tab on the side either. I will try again...

Forgive me, but you ARE putting the CPU in correctly, right? There's a diagonal corner in the CPU (no pins in that corner) that line up with the cutout corner of the socket. If you are putting it in correctly, well I dunno. YOu say the lever goes all the way down with no CPU inserted?

Oh my I think I got it, I just kept jiggling it and messing with it and got it. Strange, wouldn't budge, now it's fine... I spent hours last week doing just that... I have installed a socket A before but never had this problem. Thanks for all the assistance :)

Yes I did have it in the right way ;) . I still don't know what the problem was, but I do know that I am never removing the CPU from this board :)

LOL! A little dab of Weldbond in the corner and you'll be set 4 life! Congrats. DON'T FORGET to use thermal paste (preferably AS/ASII) b/t the cpu and the hsf. Good luck!
