Can't get removable HD discovered?!

Does anyone know any windows service relates to discovering removable HD?

I was playing around windows Services. I don't think I change much, at most from automatic to manual, no disabled.
But I can't seem to get my removable HD connected. Sometimes it shows up, but then off again.

Does anyone has any info?

A little bit goes a long way.
Pray tell, what windows services didn't you play with much, and have you re-booted?

That's what I've been trying to find out, if there is any windows service that relates to removable device.

I was playing around w/ BlackViper's windows service info.

reboot... of course. It seems I have to turn the removable HD two or three times to tick windows to discover and show it. Btw, I'm usig windows vista.

Maybe check the Removable Storage service. Also, if you right click My Computer, click manage and then click disk management, does it show in there?

Did it ever work? Does it work on another pc? Compare your settings with the settings on that pc.

Service configuration can be a black art with all of the dependencies and unless needed for general knowledge, won't be worth the time figuring it all out.

I read an article at one point that did benchmarks with his tweaks on and off. The difference was less than 3% at the lowest end hardware. Even med grade hardware (128mb ram) showed no difference

Does the external have its own power source? If not - you may never see it.
