Three days ago I burned a CD for my Uncle.
When I went to print a CD-Label for it the printer jamed up somehow.
I fixed that and printed the label. I shut down the computer and went to work.

The next morning I started the computer and the DOS screen was normal.
The load sequence was normal up to Window's splash screen.
Then normally a small window opens asking me to ?Enter your network password Microsoft Net Meeting?.
Usually I just push the enter key and the computer continues to load, but not anymore.
The computer hangs up when I push the enter key or use the mouse pointer to hit the ?OK? button.
Once the computer is jammed up I have to push Control-Alternate-Delete to shut the computer down.
When the ?Close Program? window comes up there are NO programs to close, nothing has loaded past the Window?s splash screen?
I then select ?Shut Down Computer? and I get another small window telling me ?This program is not responding? do I want to wait, or end task. I choose end task and the computer shuts down.

I have a program that images the ?C? drive called Drive Image. I have three images saved and I restored each one - (one at a time) and they all get to the same point as described above and require the same actions which still doesn?t allow any programs to load beyond the ?Window?s Splash Screen?. I don't think its a software problem because all three images were made on different dates.

I have done the following:

1. Started the computer in ?Safe Mode? checked the system ?Devices Tab? it had one yellow question mark associated with the printer. I deleted it.
2. I started the computer in ?Bootlog Text Register? mode. Ilooked at the text log and the only two failures listed were: "SDVXD and NDIS2SUP"
3. I had a hunch about two of my internal cards and removed the Quantum 3D card and the Creative Soundblaster card. Restarted the computer it had the same hangup problems.

Any suggestions - thanks for the help

Hi,
Have you tried to fix or restore your registry?

Turn on your system and get to the '98 boot menu and select Comand Prompt Only.
At the c: prompt type scanreg /restore and select a version of your registry that is dated before you started having this problem.
You should get confirmation that it has completed successfully and reboot!

Let us know how you make out.

Thanks for the suggestion KGBMAN. I went back to 8/28/00 and restored that registry. It didn't fix the problem. When I restore an image using Power Quests Drive Image program it will replace all windows and all programs in the image including the registry. I have 3 older images and I've restored all three but the problem remains.

Try going in Safe Mode and seeing if the two files from the Bootlog are still there.
Check the integrity of these two files and replace them if you can.
If you can't, try uninstalling your sound card and NIC, physically remove them from the slots and reboot. If you're okay at that point, reinstall your cards and drivers.

The NDIS2SUP looks to be related to a NIC.

Mr. KGBMAN the two files that fail to load were missing in the textboot file when checked after starting the "Safe Mode".

I removed both soundcard and NIC card but that didn't fix the problem either.

To shut the computer down I have to use the "Control-Alternate-Delete" I get a "CLOSE PROGRAM" window that is blank. I then select "Shutdown Computer and after about 30 seconds I get another window that states "This program is not responding but does not list any program only a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside it. I then click on "End Task" and the computer will auto reboot.
