Firstly, I urge you to try doing some web programming with good ol notepad and a good reference book. I work at at a web-hosting company and have dealt with numerous FrontPage problems which the resolutions were to :

1 - remove extensions and re-install.
2 - Have the person FTP some files and publish others.
3 - Make sure the client always published the website instead of just uploading via FTP.
4 - Tell the client to re-calculate hyperlinks
5 - remove a form and re-add it while connected on-line.

Yes, these 5 hokey solutions fixed 99% percent of the problems people have with FrontPage. I have seen numerous people have problems with basic counters and 1 of these solutions fixed it (sorry, I can't remember which one).

Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I appreciate it.

Uh, I really don't have the time to do "some web programming." I teach high school physics and chemistry, am a beach patrol captain during the summer, CPR and First Aid instructor, part time video editor, and triathlete. Oh yeah, I'm partners in a band that has been playing for 12 years. Not to mention I'm married.

The website I need to create with FP are simple. I've been using FP 98 for 3 years without problems, I guess I shouldn't have "upgraded."

Thanks again.

Hehe, I guess FP does help when you are busy... IMO I have seen greater success with a long time spent on the first website, but after that there is a lot of code reuse. I have given this advice to many customers and they were happier in the end because they learned how it worked and trouble-shooting was a snap! I think the most seasoned web programmers can't figure out the code FP makes :)

If you don't need the added functionality of FP2000 or 2002 I strongly urge you to stick with what has worked in the past.

btw, what is your primary way of getting your site onto the web? I have spoken to a few MS support guys and they say the key to less headaches is
to always develope the site on your home PC and use the "publish to web" feature. After publishing they say to use the "re-calculate hyperlinks" feature... When in doubt they say redo the process :)

Good luck! If you want some exerpt advice try visiting here.

Heck, here is the answer! I told you it was one of those 5 that I mentioned :)

<< My counter does not work.

If you created pages containing FrontPage active components offline and then published those pages, try creating active components online. Delete counter(s) and all form elements completely from your page and redo them online.
