Can't get my Win98 to access W2K machine!

I'm have a LAN at home and having trouble accessing my W2K machine from the win98. I have turned both "share file and printer" on. But from my W2K, I can access the share drive on the win98, but not the other way.

From the win98, it asks for password to the share drive on my W2K.
What password? Also, do I need to create a new share name for a drive on the W2K? Like there is a default C$ or D$ etc in the Sharing Properties already and I can't change the permissions on that.

Thanks! :confused:

on the Win2k machine you need to create a new user for your win98 machine, and than login into win98 with that user/password , and you won't have any problem...

In your case "what password?" means that you probably don't explicitly logon to your win98 box. You fire it up, you get to the desktop. But you are still 'logged on to the desktop' the username can be found right above the Start button: Log off ......, and the password is blank(nothing).

Now on the W2k box goto start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Users and Passwords
And create a new user with that username/password you just figured out.

Go to:

start ->
settings ->
control panel ->
administrative tools ->
computer management ->
local users and groups ->
users ->
right click on guest ->
properties ->
uncheck "account is disabled".

This will prevent the dialog login box from popping up and after some time, should let you see the w2k computer and vice versa.
