i have an old be6-2 and cant get my p3 700 to go over 854mhz ( 7 * 122)
i dont have the 1/2 agp bus setting on this old board and just wanted to know if there is anything i can do to just get some extra mhz from my cpu?
is there anyway to tweak my vid card? or will that not make a diffrence?
i have a tnt2 ultra
and 256mb pc 150 ram

buying a new mobo is not an option ;)

The BE6-2 old? Are you sure you're not talking about a plain old BE6? ;)

The BX chipset (which is sortof old) doesn't have a 1/2 agp divisor - only 1/1 & 2/3 IIRC. If a new mobo is not an option, then obviously a new video card would have to be... ;)

I'm running my bus at 160Mhz on my BE6-2 for my P3 600@960... BUT, I very simply opted for a PCI video card (so it only runs at 40Mhz at that high BUS), rather than leave the AGP card in there to try to fend for itself running at ~104Mhz. :Q

PCI is the way too go. I don't have a high FSB so I don't need to pci videoa card. I thought about that when I bought my voodoo 3 3000pci a while ago.

voodoo 3 3000pci a while ago.

It's a shame what's happening with 3DFx (although they are now owned by nVidia), as no one is sure what's gonna happen with the Voodoo card support... But that's what I have and swapped around. I have both a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP and a Voodoo 3 3000 PCI. I put the AGP one in my MSI K7T Pro2A mobo with a Duron (and FSB no higher than ~107/108) and had the PCI one in my BE6-2 with the high FSB.

I had a Voodoo3 3000AGP in a BX board at 140 mhz FSB and the same with a Voodoo4. I think it depends on the video card but most quality cards these days can handle high bus speeds.

I didn't think there would be a prob for the AGP in the 140-150Mhz bus speed range, but note that I'm running @160 (and had it running at 167 to get my P3 600 to 1002 at one time)... ;)

I didn't want to even bother taking the chance... :)

can most of the current vid cards handle a higher agp bus?
the reason i'm asking is cause i want to know if i'm better off buying a new agp card that can handle the higher bus or just buying a pci card
is there really a big diffrence in the performance i will see from the two??

thanx

You didnt say whether the TNT was crapping out on you at the higher AGP frequency but if thats your
problem..
Maybe try running in AGP1X mode.

NVMAX should allow you to try it.
