cant get my new abit system to bootup

Messed up on the details.Its a new abit kr7a-133r with raedon 8500,maxtor 40 gig and 256 ddr mushkin ram.i cant get it to start up and all i get is a alarm beep about every 2 to 3 secs

I Have the same problem with my Abit KG7. My ran fine for about 5 Months.Did yours ever come up. Just talked with company, and am RMAing the Mobo and Proc to them.😎

Never did come up.Nothing on the screen.i have a 300w powersupply and its an 1800+chip.i was wondering if i had enough juice to run it.im going to try and reset everything.maybe something isnt connected good.

Powersupply could be the problem.

Do your simple mobo troubleshooting:

Remove from case. Place on foam or whatever.
Remove all cards.
Disconnect all drives.
Check jumper settings.
Reset CMOS.
Leave 1 stick of RAM in. Make sure seated well.
Install video card, make sure seated well.
Try.
If nogo, try RAM in another slot.
Try another powersupply.

Hey-

I experienced the SAME exact problem with my KR7A-133 with Athlon XP 1800+, Crucial 256MB DDR and Crucial 128MB DDR!

The problem is due to the motherboard NOT detecting the DDR SDRAM. Which brand are you using? After re-inserting the DDR SDRAM in DIMM1 numerous times, it finally recognized it and it booted up, however it wouldn't recognize my other stick of DDR memory in any of the other slots.

I'm getting ready to start building a 2d rig and will be getting the Abit KR7A-RAID mobo along with Mushkin ram. I emailed Mushkin and asked about the board and registered DDR ram.

Received a reply right away and was told:
"..avoid the basic modules for this board. Either the Special's or the High Perf's will work great. This is due to ABIT being fairly aggressive with their default BIOS settings."

Another reason I like Mushkin - their tech support is great. 🙂

ok for all you helpful people out there who helped me with my current problem....thank you!!! i have just found out after trying 3 different ati cards (radeon 8500,7500 all in wonder and 7200) the abit mother board doesnt like or just plain wont accept those cards.i tried 2 diff nividia cards and no more problem with the start up(tnt 2 ultra and asus gforce 2) also i moved the ram from what was shown as slot 1 in the manual to slot 4 and there went my beep error.
Im now on my way to the store to get a gforce 3 and return my radeon 8500 cause i cant have an old card in my new system =)

Hey I'm glad to hear that you figured out it was the videocard--well I finally figured out my problem with the DRR situation! I have found that you must insert the DDR sticks VERY firmly until the two latches even up to confirm that it's seated correctly. I guess the KR7A requires you to insert the DDR extra firmly seated into the DIMM slots in order to be recognized.

I hope this may help others who ran into the same problem as I!
