I have a Maxtor 60gb and I want to partition it into two 30gb drives. Fdisk will only let me do one 30gb partition. If I try to add another one it says there is not enough room. I tried using the partition software from Maxtor's web site but it always gives me an error message. I also tried Paragon Partition Manager but it only recognized the drive as 30gb. How can I get my drive into the two 30gb partitions?

What version of Windows are you using? How about some other information on the computer itself as well.

if you run either win2000 or winXP then partition into 30gb then load xp / 2000 and it will see the other 30gb and allow you to partition it using disk management...

if you are using and other os then if possible take your HDD to a friends who runs and of the above operating systems and attach you HDD to their manchine and partition it

otherwise i dunno

sorry i could not be of further help

and the above 2 operating sys will allow you to format as well
