Can't get Logitech Optical (scroll button) to work in Wolf3D

I've tried everything, and I've tried enabling the Microsoft Office checkbox with the latest Logitech software but it won't work. With my Intellimouse Explorer, the scroll wheel would select my weapons, now it doesn't even register with this mouse. When I go into options to setup the mouse, if I choose select weapon and try to assign the scroll wheel, it doesn't even register.

When I try to use it in the game, it will work every once in a while, but only after making a few 360 degree flips of the wheel does it bother to cycle through even ONE weapon. And yes, I uninstalled the Intellipoint software before installing this mouse. Here it is BTW:
