Hello,

I have sent out applications to 7 universities, and already got rejected from 3 of them ... Most of them don't write the reason ; ( ... I think , probably the reason is because of my grades, right now my total GPA is 2.72 , and for this quater was 3.2 ... it's that bad , because I just came to USA in 10th grade , and of course failed English and didn't do well in others ... well anyway , my question is , if I won't get accepted to any university , what the best thing to do ? go to some Community College , and then , next year go try some university , or what ?

Thanks,
bye.

If you really won't get accepted anywhere, I would take classes at a Community College for 1 or 2 years. That way you'll get your core courses out of the way.

2.72 isn't that bad, and with your 3.2 for this semester it should go up.
Fortunately I had English before I moved here (I moved in 9th grade) and did pretty good in English.
But like I said - that GPA isn't that bad. Don't get too down right now - you still have 4 universities that haven't gotten back to you yet :)

I think going to the community college for 1-2 yrs then finishing at a college/university is a good plan. Your english and communication skills could improve a lot in that time as well as your grades. Perhaps you will get positive results from the other applications you haven't heard back from yet, as well.

You can talk to many universities into taking you on a probational basis. THis means they can kick you out if you don't meet a certain GPA requirement after the 1st year. I sympathize with you. I was an immigrant too, but I came here a lot younger. CAll up the admissions offices of these universities and explain that to them. I know this will work, especially at big universities. Good Luck

It doesn't matter if you go to a university or a Community College you're gonna have to take the core classes (English, Math, History, etc) anyway. I'm taking courses at a community college cause I'm saving about $5000/year when compared to a unversity.

Once those 2 years are up then I'm gonna transfer to a university.
