Can't get into Safe Mode, Help...

Trying to get into safe mode. Windows XP. Hitting F8 from reboot and power up. Tried many times. It only comes with a screen asking me how I want to boot. IE: from floppy, HD, or CD-Rom.

F2 works fine and takes me to "setup".

How or what can I do to get into Safe Mode?

Thanks
Darrell

Sounds like you might be hitting F8 too early and that keystroke is going to the BIOS, not the OS loader.

Try waiting until after POST to hit F8 and see if that helps.

If you can get into normal mode, install the Recovery Console. This way you'll always get the boot menu with a countdown timer. During the timer, you can press F8. This makes your time window to press F8 *much* larger.

Recovery Console? Sorry. Have no idea what your talking about. Still learning.

I have seen the countdown before on other PC's but never on this one.

How do I do this?

Thanks

Noggin,

Found it and thanks.... that worked GREAT!

I've been reading posts here for a few months now and never had to ask a question. And when I did... answered in about 2 mins!

Thanks
Darrell
