Ive got an asus SK8N with an FX51. Ive doublechecked the asus manual a dozen times, and just in case ive even tried every other bios-entry key i could think of. Nothing works... it just skips the POST screen and keeps on going. Ive tried 2 different keyboards, too.

Ive been having a bunch of other trouble lately, including what i think is a hard drive failure... but not im thinking that perhaps this isnt a drive failure, but a mobo failure?

Any idea whats going on here?

If nothing else works, try disconnecting your boot drive. Some brands of bios then give you a screen to enter bios and change boot order; but that gets you in.

The BIOS entry point is right asfter POST - and before the OS starts loading - i.e., before the HDD is active.

Therefore, if you can't get into BIOS/CMOS right after POST, it suggests to me that your keyboard is the problem. On my ASUS mobo, if the boot cycle is interruped in anyway, it will automatically open the BIOS screen. The easiest is to just pull the plug before Windows starts loading. Then put it back in and cold boot. It should takje you right into the BIOS.

And if that doesn't work, then a mobo problem is a possibility - and it could be the BIOS chip itself.

Ok, so i checked out the jumper settings for my cmos, and lo and behold, the jumper was actually missing. There wasnt even a jumper in the default setting. I took an extra jumper i had lying around and plugged it into the default position and booted the computer up. I was able to get into the BIOS and reset everything. So, thats one problem solved.

Im gonna post another thread for the rest of my problem, since its kinda unrelated, but thanks a lot to everyone for the help!
