Can't get IBM Thinkpad ethernet drivers installed :-/

I was given an old IBM A20m Thinkpad laptop and I proceeded to format install XP. To my surprise, XP did not seem to automatically install ethernet drivers. The laptop seems to work fine aside from this, however.

I found 3Com drivers on IBM's website and installed them, but the ethernet adapter still does not seem to be recognized by XP. I was not given the majority of the original documentation so I am not even sure the ethernet adapter is a 3Com chipset, but that's the only one available on the site.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Look on the bottom of the TP and enter that product number Here Press GO.
It will tell you what nic is installed and if you navigate the site properly it will find the proper drivers, updates for you.

Hi, My Think Pad is older than yours. It always gives problems, even with Win98, trying to load Lan/Modem drivers. 3Com usually supplies an Uninstall Prog with the drivers. Try running that. It will remove all mention of 3com communications devices then try to load it again. That usually gets mine going with a new card. Jim
