Can't Get HeatSink Plastic Clip Down

I'm building my first AMD64 and I cannot get the plastic clip down to lock. I got both metal clips over the plastic retainer, but I cannot get the locking clip down. I'm using an Abit AV8 and it is too hard to get down, and there is a resister in the way as well. I was wondering if it would be ok to just leave it up since the metal clips are in place.

Thanks

Your picture link shows Barney The Dinosaur. Are you experiencing technical difficulties today? 😀

You must latch down your heatsink, by the way. Read the instructions careful-er. 🙂

I tried monunting the headsink both ways and the same things happens, it will not come all the way down. I'll try again though, I might just have to use a little more force. I was trying really hard before, but I'll give it another shot.

I checked everything and it seems fine without it. I checked my temp and it says 40F. Is that ok. Will it hurt not to have the clip down. The two side metal clips are in place and the heatsink does not move around.

40C, what is the range that it should be in, i have a 939 3400+

I having problems with the last L shape type of clip, I got the two sides connected to the retainer, but the big L shaped one is not connecting.

Agreed. I just built my first system myself (Athlon 64-based) and it was a bit intimidating to get those clips on there since you really had to work to get them to stay. But if you keep working at it you should be able to get them on properly.
