Can't get Coolbits to work

I have used Coolbits in the past with my GF3 card. I am planning on getting a GF4 soon, so I figure I'd OC the daylights out of this card and see what it can do. :D I hate artifacts of any kind, so I won't be going that high.

Anyway, I unzipped coolbits. Per the readme, I clicked on the W2K entry. Typed in "rundll32.exe nvqtwk.dll,NvHWCtl" in the run box, but I get an error message "missing entry, NvHWCtl"

If I go into the card's hardware properties, the OCing tab is not there. Can you help, please?

*EDIT*
Can someone tell me what the proceedure is for editing the registry for coolbits? I've done it that way do. Something about a DWORD entry in the NVidia folder. Thanks!!!

Is this what you want?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NVTweak. Create a new DWORD value, named CoolBits and set its value for '3'.

I'm using the coolbits tweak to OC my GeForce3 using the latest Detonators... no problems. I just double click on the .reg file.

Thanks, Woodie1. I will try that. I don't remember setting it to "3" though...I thought it was "1?"

Where can I DL coolbits from? Maybe the one I have is corrupted or something?

Well, I just DL'ed it from 3Dchipset and unzipped it. It's the same thing I have already and I get the same results. Off to edit the registry *crosses fingers.*

That worked! Thanks man. Publish my meager results in a little while. :)

Hmmm,

Glad you found a solution, but I was hoping that this thread would shed some light on why coolbits has never worked with my GF2MX400...

With my GF3Ti200 it works 100%, but no matter what Detanator version I was using, under 98, 2k and XP, it'd never work with the GF2.

*shrug*

While on the Subject, does anyone have the values used to change the Default clock rates?
Currently my card is on 240/500, which is the highest CoolBits allows - i'd like to go higher so it'd be nice if I could make 240/500 the default.

Sorry to re-use a thread but i'd say it's somewhat related...
