Can't get AVI file from buddy to play properly

My buddy made an AVI file for me of him playing a video game with a program called Gamecam.

He uploaded it to Filefront and I then downloaded it.

When I try to play the file, I get between 0.18 FPS and 0.23 FPS.

I tried playing it in both Windows Media Player and Winamp and there is no difference to this problem.

I had my buddy download the file from Filefront and he said it works fine on his system.

I analyzed the file with a program called GSpot and it said the file uses mp42 S-Mpeg 4 version 2 codec, and it says my system has 3 compatible codecs installed.

When I test the file with GSpot it says "Rendering Successful" although in the FPS section it lists "1.#IO", I have no idea what that means.

I tried re-downloading the file again but that didn't make any difference.

Please tell me how to fix this problem so this AVI file will play properly on my system.

Ok, I just did that. When I run the file the problem is the same. When I analyze again with Gspot it still says there are 3 compatible codecs on my system.

Do I have to instruct my computer to use the xvid codec somehow or is that automatic? If it's automatic then that didn't solve this problem.

When I run it in vid4wa the problem is still the same as in the original post.

Guess it means I got a configuration problem with my codecs or something?

How do I fix it?

if it was the codecpack then it was probably one of these 2 ..CoreAAC (AAC DirectShow Decoder) 1.2.0 or FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder 2004.10.12 (most likely)
