Cant format SD card

I have a 64GB Micro SD card. Had it in my phone and then one day it just doesnt see it anymore. Sandisk I think. So I tried putting it in a reader and my PC can see it, I can open the file on it, I can even copy to my desktop.

I wonder if it has some stupid write protection on it now? I used HD Tune Pro to scan. No bad sectors but when I tried to use it to format it went red. No Idea what to do or what could be wrong. Any Ideas?

Try formatting it in a different format, like ExFat?

Try Disk Management and see if you can format it there, or delete the partition?

Try putting it in a camera and formatting it? Or some other device that will low level format it?

None of that worked. 🙁

I had this same issue, some cards by default are write protected and need a special mini SD to regular SD adapter that has the write protection switch on it so you can disable the write protection.

I....this is utter BS. Unless it is a special cases micro SD card that for some reason you want right protected on your phone at all time.. but %99.99 of microsd card owners are going to want to write to it as a micro sd.. and %99.99 of the micro sd cards out there do just that.

It sounds like the controller on the sd card went bad. It still functions for many read functions but malfunctions for things like writing. Copy the data you want off it and then contact sandisk to get it replaced. They usually have a life time warranty.
