loading red owl modem in system that was just formatted and running win98se. it won't find the wave device for voice modem. i have the drivers for the red owl and the wave drivers aren't there. they aren't in options/cabs or windows/system either. i have uninstalled and reinstalled the sound drivers to no avail. the system works fine, plays music, surfs the net and all, but i still get a splat in dev mgr. this isn't my system and i need a solution. thankz

I have the same prob w/my Creative labs dial-up modem, which I'm not using right now b/c I have DSL. I keep the modem in there in case DSL goes down so I can still dial up.

I just went into Device Manager and disabled that funcion in all hardware profiles. I have no probs and the device doesn't detect on bootup and ask me to load the driver, which I did about 100x. But you know that part already!

If the modem works fine, and the soundcard (or onboard sound) works fine and you have no other system anaomolies, just disable it. Good luck.
