I got an EPoX EP-8RDA3+ PRO mobo which has a Phoenix-Award BIOS. It's details as follows
Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG, 10/5/2004
10/05/2004-nVidia-nForce-6A61BPANC-00-None
I am trying to update this BIOS because my motherboard seems to refuse to POST when I have my new 1.5 Tb hard drive plugged in, and I think my last resort is to update this BIOS. I know the drive works fine as I can use it even by the same machine if I plug it in via USB with an external SATA enclosure.
First, it's really tough to find any BIOS updates that I can actually download, because since EPoX seems to be a defunct company now it's support download links are bad (they ask for username/password). I managed to find someone else who got access to their ftp directly but unfortunately it had no BIOS files for my particular motherboard. I can see they have links to some newer BIOS version from 2006 so I know they must be available somewhere.
I tried flashing a BIOS under the 8RDA3 folder (not with the "+ PRO") but the flash program refuses to allow me to use it- says "This file is no support BIOS lock function" [sic]
Anyone got any ideas about this?
