Cant figure out how to put in memory.

I purchased this at newegg .DELL Inspiron iM101z-3980BK Notebook. I want to put in more memory . I can see the one filled slot and the one above it is open. What I cant do is see how the open slot will pivot up so I can slide the stick in. The guide bars to each side will not move for me and since I cant see a clear way to move them I thought I would ask first for some help. thank you

It sounds like you need to use more force to spread the guide bars. Best of luck.

The slot itself doesn't move. The memory stick goes in at about a 45 degree angle, and then lays flat. If it doesn't go easy don't force it. You may need to wiggle it up and down a couple times. Laying the memory down should pop the tabs out on their own, and they will snap back to lock the memory in. To remove the memory, you pop the tabs out to the side, and the memory flips up.

The guide linked above pretty much says it all. The problem lies in not inserting the dimm far enough, but there are notches in the sides where you should be able to tell if it's deep enough.
