Can't enable Panda AV's Platinum Permanent Protection.

I just reformatted and installed Kerio and Panda Platinum 7 this time around, instead of my usual Sygate and AVG. Anyway, Kerio's so far so good, and I got Panda all updated and running smoothly, but after a reboot I noticed the Permanent Protection was disabled. I clicked the checkbox to enable it and clicked OK, and it said "Could not load the permanent protection for files."

What gives?

Do you have Nero's IN CD installed? Their is a known issue with that. If u do, make sure it is updated to the latest version 4.3.0.3. If this isn't the case, call panda and see what they say.

No I don't have that installed. I don't even have Nero installed at all yet after my reformat, and if there is an issue with PAV maybe I'll find another burner program.

What is Nero "IN" CD anyway?

Also, should Panda display an X in front these two things when it is checking for updates?

Searching for virus signature file
Searching for antivirus update

I'm worried that the X means it couldn't connect, but hopefully it just means no new updates were available. The first time it updated, there were green checks in front in stead of red X's.

Ah, definately don't have that. Well where can I find the number to call Panda? I couldn't find a number on their site.

I do not beleive Panda has a phone number. You can e-mail them. Use the link; go start then programs then Panda then Internet tech support.

I would try uninstalling or doing a repair on the program, then install it again to see if it works then. The red X means it is checking or trying to check for updates. You should be getting updates every day.

Actually it works now. I rebooted in safe mode earlier to turn off file indexing (cuz I figured safe mode would allow it to have access to more files), and after I rebooted back to normal mode it works now. I guess some service wasn't loading that maybe it needed or something. *shrug* Cuz I didn't do anything other than turn off indexing. Mysterious comp00ters!

Of course they do:

What the hell? I just rebooted after disabling ctfmon.exe (something that came with Office) and now I can't enable Permanent Protection again. I'd really like to know why sometimes it will enable and sometimes it won't.

I'm calling that number tomorrow.

I think I figured it out.

I disabled the Kerio Personal Firewall Engine service and restarted. Permanent Protection works.

I enable the Kerio Personal Firewall Engine service and restarted. Permanent Protection doesn't work.

Why is this conflict happening? I don't even have the System Security Module enabled in the Kerio configuration, so it shouldn't even monitor what programs launch what anymore. Why is it still conflicting?

You did not install the firewall that comes with Panda Platinum 7 did you? When installing Platinum one of the screens is about the firewall install. Uncheck that box when installing or you will get all kinds of goofy stuff happening when you try to run two software firewalls at the same time. The Platinum firewall is by Sygate if I remember right.

I didn't install the Firewall to begin with because I had Kerio. Oh well, I uninstalled Panda anyway now and now Outlook gives an error when I open it, even after uninstall/reinstall.

Time to format again hahahahahahah! I'm going format crazy! Or just plain crazy... not sure...!
