Can't Edit documents with Office XP Porgrams

My sister has Office XP installed on her laptop and the other day she called me saying that she could not edit her Word document. It was giving her an error message saying the the document was locked and could not be edited. She also said that the New, Save, etc. commands were grayed out with all of the Office appliactions. I have no idea what could be causing this and it is a legit copy of Office XP.

Have you activated the software yet? If not after 50 goes it'll lock you out in a similar fashion.
