I've always had this going before at our college house, but now I'm at home and I'm trying to connect to my bro's computer. He can see his own machine and my parents computer under workgroup, but my workgroup is simply blank. My domain is set to WORKGROUP like all of the other machines, and I have one of my drives shared. I of course have File Sharing for Microsoft in the network connections. I don't see what else to do. I also have Simple File Sharing enabled under Windows Explorer.

Any ideas?

First, I'm assuming that you meant your workgroup name is workgroup, domains and workgroups are not the same thing and they will not work together. Next I'm assuming that you either have the WIndows SP2 firewall or a third party firewall application. Disable this to allow file sharing.

Try to look what kind of "Node type" your computer are using...

Check that at thd CMD Promt..
ipconfig /all

You should have HYBRID but it can be P2p, if it's p2p you must change it in the registry..

LOL, my Node type is Unknown.

Bah fvck it. I just got the stuff I needed but taking his hdd out and plugging it into mine. I guess I'll deal with the file sharing when I move back up to college next fall.

And yes DaiShan I meant workgroup name as WORKGROUP, and I have no software firewall.
