Cant do certain things in XP

These problems are present in my main rig, but not my duallie rig, both running XP PRO.

1. I cant drag and drop things without it copying them, i *have* to use cut and this really sucks, i would rather it automatically cut items such as shortcuts or music files and make me have to use copy if i wanted a second copy.

2. Everytime i go into my computer itll spin up the cd drives, this takes a little while and has really irritated me over the past couple of months, i just try and avoid my computer in general now.

How can i fix the above items? 🙂

1. while dragging your file(s) to a different folder, while holding down your right mouse button; press [shift] and release the mouse button. It should be changed to move instead of copy.
