Can't display on external monitor

I am trying to use my crt monitor with my hp laptop as an external display. The laptop is running vista and uses an Nvidia 7150 GO gpu. The monitor is confirmed working with my dell 710m (intel 855gm). I have tried going into the nvidia panel and selecting the "analog" display. I hit apply only to have no change (still only laptop picture).

All cord are hooked up correctly
I have tried fn+f4

Any suggestions? Thanks

Check the user manual and see if there is a hot key combination to shift between Internal LCD and External Monitor. Usually Fn + F4 for HP although there are some variations.

Oppps I see that you have tried Fn + F4... I guess I should read more carefully... Did you check the BIOS to see if anything is disabled?

Display properties is replaced by the nvidia control panel, or so I thought

display properties can be either windows or nvidia, you could always try to right click the desktop and go to Personalize -> Display settings from there click the second monitor and either check "extend my desktop onto this monitor" or "make this monitor my main monitor" sometimes you have to extend it then make it main, I dunno why it's just stupid like that sometimes.
