Can't Delete Files...Help!

For the last week or two, I haven't been able to delete certain files, mainly movie files. I'm running Windows XP Pro. EVerytime I try to delete certain files, it tells me that some other person or program is using the file. I'm not using any filesharing software, so I really ahve no idea how this could be.

Any ideas?

they're obviously in use by other processes. for some reason that you have to figure out, the files are loaded into memory. maybe a restart will help kill those processes, and free up the files.

do you have/use daemon tools? If the movies are cd images and they're still mounted, unmount them and you'll be set... otherwise, yeah... some other program's got them tied up, and if you can't track it down, a restart *should* free them up to be deleted.

this is a common problem in windows xp and there is a fix for it, search the forums or google. windows xp avi file fix or something like that 🙂 I just helped a guy here at the office with that yesterday 🙂
