I had installed Fix-it Utilities99 and Cacheman. While running Fix-it I received an error message which prompted me to take certain steps to correct the problem. When I was finished, I couldn't optimize my disk and was advised to run scandisk. Scandisk hungup on me. I then delected Fix-it Utilities and ran scandisk again. This time I received instructions to rename the directory and try again. The old directory remained along with the new one I created. Now I can't remove either directory using either Windows or DOS commands.
Windows support suggested that from the DOS command line I enter on the first line: attrib -r -s -h c:\recycled; and on the second line deltree c:\recycled, then restart the computer to re-create the recycle bin. I did this but still cannot remove the garbage directories. I followed the same instructions with the garbage directory names, but still they remain. Each garbage diretory contains 24 subdirtories. None of the directories cannot any visible files. The directories do not appear when I run Settings, Task Bar/Start Menu and try to remove it from there.
Previous suggestions to an earlier post were not helpful and somewhat insulting. Can a serious tech help?
