well my parents have decided to be nice and buy me an LCD monitor to replace my old CRT one I have now wich is killing my eyes. However I cant decide on wich of the two monitors I have found that they are willing to pay for.

First up is the SonySDM-S74/B 17" 16ms LCD $299:

Second is the Samsung 172X-Silver 17" 12ms LCD $369:

Now I have had prior experience with the sony and they seem to be very good as our family computer has a 19" version of the same monitor. I'm trying to decide if I want a monitor thats silver or black as my funiture is black so eather I think woud go well. Also I'm not a huge gamer but I play an occassional games like the sims. I do watch a lot of movie and dvds on my computer however. Is it worth the extra expense to get the samsung? Any thoughts?

The Samsung has better specs. but you can get a 19" LCD in that price range I'd actualy suggest a Hyuandi based pannel NE doesn't have either in stock but you can get the 19 for around 350 and it's supposed to have very little if any ghosting and some of the best color around due to the type of Pannel it is (I forget the type MVA or IPS or something not your normal TN+ Film tho)

Samgsung ! Lower MS !

I have a P193 Silver. No ghosting or blurring. Not bad for a 19" but the price was high, I think I paid 800 for it.
