Can't decide between DFI SLI-DR and ASUS A8N-SLI

Well, I've gotten all of my parts except for the Mobo and RAM. It's down to either the DFI SLI-DR or the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe. I have heard that the DFI is more for the advanced and is a better OC'er, but I'm not really into overclocking that much. I really like the features of the DFI SLI-DR (FrontX, etc.) So, are they both about the same difficualty to get set up? I want something that performs great at stock speed, and I don't want to have to go through the whole troubleshooting ordeal, if at all possible. Thanks.
 
I've seen many issues with the ASUS board on this forum so far..

DFI seems to have the best nf4 board atm.

2 for DFI.
 
well im useing a trident 8mb(hope it works) until I can get my hands on a sub 330ish x800xl 😀
 
This is coming from me, an Asus owner.

Get the DFI.

The Asus is a good board. The DFI is a better board. Period.

Well... people don't usually come on and tell us about how great it is. People who actually post here HAVE problems with the board. Since Asus was the first one with SLI solution out there, that is why there are more problems.

I have an ASUS too and I like it... However the DVD drive gives me a headache but it isnt much of an issue.
 
No one on Anandtech has really talked much about the DFI board, but you can find a lot of info about problems and setups over at Xtremesystems.org. It seems the board doesn't like TCCD based memory much, which is ashame, unless you don't mind running it at higher voltages. I like my Asus board, it has its problems of course, but what board doesn't. I think if you aren't overclocking, get the Asus, as it is an excellent board at stock and has a ton of great features.
 
I hear the DFI is a better overclocker. I have a Asus a8n-SLI Deluxe and don't have an issue over clocking it.

Wait for the reviews and hit up Toms, Anands, Firing Squad and HardOCP.

Or buy them both, test them out, and send back the looser.


 
I swapped my asus sli for a dfi sli-dr. Best decision i ever made. This board reminds me of my old be6-II. Rock solid with great overclocking options. Not had any problems so far.
My TCCD does 2.5-4-3-7 at 300mhz with 2.7V. Its ocz plat rev 2.
 
I just swapped out my Asus for the DFI last night and am extremely happy with the decision. It is more stable and faster than the Asus. I have the two sticks of Mushkin pc3200 level 2 rev 2 (which is TCCD, I believe) and have no issues. I flashed to the latest beta bios (2/9/05).
Go with the DFI.
