Sometimes (most of the time) when I try to move my mouse, the cursor jumps around all over the place. I tried using a different mouse but it still does it. I've checked my machine with Norton, spybot, and adaware pro but they don't find anything.

Is it a USB or PS2 mouse? What OS?

Anyway, did you check in Device Manager to see if it says anything (other than device is working properly)? Assuming you did and it says device is okay, try booting into safe mode. If the mouse does the same thing, you may have a bad driver. Try downloading the latest driver.

Also, did you recently change your mouse? If you did, you might still have the driver for the previous mouse installed on your machine which is conflicting with the new mouse's driver.

Lastly, you might have a mobo problem - check to see if there's a hardware conflict. Do you have the latest BIOS updates?

My mouse does the exact same thing!!! (see thread below) I was about to buy a new mouse, but your post saved me some $$ - thanks. My mobo is a biostar sempron 2200+ running xp. If you figure it out, let me know....

The first mouse I was using was ps2 but the one now is usb. The device manager says nothing, I never installed a mouse driver, I have the latest bios (epox 8rda).

This didn't start happening until about 2 weeks ago.

I don't get it...I moved my pc to the other side of my desk and now the mouse no longer does anything crazy. I don't get it, the only thing over there is my pvr and tv.

ive seen problems like this but it was only beacuse either the software for the mouse was wrong, or the light reflects weird causing the problem, sorta like the compatibility of certain mouses with certain mousepads they jsut dont work and jump around all over the place
