I just started having a problem yesterday.I can't connect to http://www.3dnow.net/ http://www.athlonoc.com/vbulletin/index.php http://www.spacebattles.com/ and a few others that I have stumbled upon.
I know that athalonoc.com and spacebattles.com start with the numbers 63.218 when they first come up on the status bar.Could there be an address problem?
I read through some of the posts here and someone had a similar problem. He couldn't connect to msn.com.Some of the replies were the MTX virus.I checked the regestry and it didn't have the mtx line in it.
Someone else suggested trying opening up c:\windows\host and here's what I got:
# Copyright (c) 1998 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP stack for Windows98
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
I don't know how this can help.Should I be using something other than wordpad to open it?
Anyone have any ideas?
