I have a notebook with windows 7 64bit, my sister had it so I don't know what she did to it, but I when I tried installing StarCraft 2, it wouldn't connect to the Internet to verify my game. Firefox works fine, but IE9 can't connect either.

I got a verification key through FF, but the auto patcher can't connect and neither can I log into my account in the game. What could be wrong and how do I fix it. If you need more details, feel free to ask.

Do you have any software or hardware based firewalls that could be blocking the communication attempt

I turned off windows firewall and removed the avast free antivirus I found there, although Norton 2011 won't uninstall. Could that be it?

EDIT: Its part of a homegroup with another computer and a router. Battle.net work fine in the other PC so I don't think its a hardware firewall.

Scan your computer for malware. Certain types of malware will install a proxy server on your computer. This can cause problems like sites being redirected to different URLs, and certain types of traffic not being able to access the internet.

I suggest you start out with malware bytes from download.com and do a full system scan.
