Can't change workgroup?

I have w2k pro installed on a notebook and i went to go change work group so it could communicate with network and it's shaded-out. can anyone please help with this isssue? thanks

You need an administrative account to change work groups. Perhaps you don't have appropriate privileges?

what confuses me is that i'm in the administrators group

w3k telling me that i need to install networking?
