Hello. I purchased a CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145177 for my Compaq Presario SR5023WM... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...dlc=en&lang=en which uses an Asus motherboard model called IVY (Asus' website has no info on this board). Here is a link for Compaq/HP of the board... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/g...dlc=en&lang=en. I love the dimms, there are great but I can't seem to get its memory timimg to its tested settings of...

DDR Clock: 800
SDRAM CAS Latency: 4T
SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 4T
SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 4T
SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 12T
DRAM Voltage: 2.1v
TRC: 24

When I run CPU-Z it reads as:

SDRAM CAS Latency: 5T
SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 5T
SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 5T
SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 18T
TRC: 23
Don't what the voltage is set to.

When I enter the bios there is no settings for changing Ram Timimgs. I read elsewhere about how Compaq computers hide these settings in the bios. I talked to there helpdesk and they said the same. They did told me to try a key combination with the F10 key to enter the bios and all it did was give a couple of more options on the bios but not what I was looking for. I have the latest Bios from Compaq support and don't if I want to flash my bios or even try any other modification program to enable, unlock or add other menus the bios. I don't know what to do. Has anyone had any success in changing the timimgs on a compaq or other OEM PC or even know of a way to get around this. Anything would help. Please Advice. Thanks.

You can't overclock prebuilt computers in the BIOS.
You, though, play around with some of the Windows over clocking programs; CPUFSB, MemSet, SetFSB, etc..

I would not suggest using any of the OCing tools on that system. Your system is set to run the memory at 1.8v and this cannot be changed without a modded bios (which is not going to happen) or a hardware mod of the MOBO. If you try to run that memory at anything other than what the system sets it to, then you will very likely be unstable. It's actually surprising that the memory is running at all in that system due to the .3v voltage deficit. . IMO, leave it alone.

Btw here is a fixed link for the memory CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

To get the timings spec'd by Corsair you need 2.1V not the 1.8V your bios gives it by default that fact that it works w/out error and slower timings is good I'd suggest you not mess w/ it or try and get memory w/ better times spec'd for 1.8V since thats all you can get w/ the compaq bios. Also you may want to try using Memset as this will change your timings in windows since you cant in the bios.

Also fyi the Motherboard is an Asus M2N68-LA IVY-GL6 is the compaq/hp name for it. product support page for the Compaq

not sure if you want to risk it but here is the Asus support page for the M2N you may be able to use an asus bios to get more options but unless you can find an M2N w/ the same features as yours I wouldn't risk it as its to easy to brick your board + its gonna void your warrenty as well

If it has a socketed bios chip instead of a soldered bios chip, the user may be able to order an M2N bios chip and give it a shot. If it bricks, the old chip should revive it.
